Not only the berry part, but also the roots, bark, peel, leaves and flowers of cherries are very useful. The Professor of the Department of Garden Plants of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ordu, Mr. Turan Karadeniz noted the benefits of cherries during menopause.

The name "cherry" comes from the Latin "Cerasus Avium", and its homeland is considered to be North Anatolia and Southern Caucasus, in particular the city of Giresun. There are several opinions about the origin of cherries. Some researchers assert that cherry was initially brought to Europe from Greece in 64 BC. Whereas others insist that cherry was first brought to Rome by the Roman commander Lucullus, and from there it was distributed worldwide.
Experts especially highlight the fact that not only the berries, but the roots, bark, stems and peel of the cherries are very healthy and can be used for different purposes. The best cigars are made from the roots of cherry trees; the most high-quality furniture and different tools are made of cherry wood.
The gluten of cherries is widely used in textile and medical industries, and its bark, leaves, blossoms, berries and stems are applied for making medicines. Cherry berries are consumed in fresh or dried form, and are also suitable for canning, freezing and making jam.
